Burlap & Brian Malarkey:
A Culinary Adventure
When I met Brian, I am not going to lie; I was a little star-struck. He was friendly, approachable and possessed a magnetic energy. And, I do have to say, he’s very fashionable. Brian is into different fabrics, if you could not already tell (a la Searsucker downtown, Burlap in Carmel Valley, and the anticipated Herringbone in La Jolla). The kitchen staff wears fashionable jump suits and the wait staffs’ holster belts are a little sexy. I also noticed that his staff didn’t act any different when he was in the restaurant than when he wasn’t. This goes to show that Brian has a relationship with the people that work for him. He doesn’t walk around with this “don’t you know who I am” attitude as you could expect from celebrity chefs. I was supposed to be taking notes during the video shoot and I had to snap myself out of it a few times because I was so mesmerized by hearing his story and the creation of Burlap.
I’ll let the video speak to the awesomeness of Burlap and what Brian and his team have created. We hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed filming it. And when you get a chance, check out Burlap. Like Brian says, it’s not just meal – “it’s a social dining experience.” And when you go there, you can see why.
Enjoy!
